Desiring God: The Change to a Christian Hedonist

Transforming Change- Living In Light of God’s Grace

Romans 12:1-2

Change- we all encounter change in our lives, sometimes for the good other times for the not so good.  No matter if we have experienced good change or bad it is an inescapable part of life.  The question is then, “What kind of change do I want to see take place in my life?”  The answer should be that type of change that is the mark of the disciple of Christ.

Romans 12:1-2 calls for a “transforming” change that is our spiritual act of worship, which is our response to God’s grace.  This transforming change is formed by a biblical worldview.  There are many competing views about the world in our society, we need to make sure that the way we view life is informed by the revealed word of God.

Transforming change affects our whole life.  It affects the mind, the body, and our relationships.  Transforming change is brought by taking our thoughts captive for Christ.  It is also brought about by ordering the body, taking care of our physical bodies in such a way that we are able to serve God.  It is also brought about by having loving relationships that are based on caring and commitment.

Again change is inevitable in life.  The question is what is going to inform our change process? Will it be transforming change that is brought about by submission to Christ or conforming change that is brought about by the images and ideas of popular culture?
